Leading in Tough Times!

You really had to be there. In Atlanta – where I was the day it felt like the world was coming to an end. Severe winter weather hit and the city came to a total standstill.

From a Canadian’s perspective, it was no big deal. To the people of Atlanta, it was a living hell for at least 48 hours. I have many stories I can tell – but I am choosing to speak of my experience with 2…

The Easy Way Out!

I wanted to pull back the curtain this week and share some of the challenges that I’ve been experiencing this month in my business.

I’m going to share them because I want you to understand that regardless of where you are in your business, whether it’s been a week, a month, a year, or ten, there’s going to be problems.

But first let me start this conversation with a question: ‘Have you ever wanted to take the easy way out?

Clear the Clutter!

Have you ever seen the TV show “The Hoarders”? I’ve watched it a few times and, to be honest, felt like a hoarder in my own office when I am working on an intense project. There are files, papers, pens, post-it notes, note pads, etc. all over the place. Flip chart paper is on each and every wall surface.

And I’ve also felt like a hoarder when the year is well underway and I take a look at my in-box on my computer. Have any of you ever felt that…

‘How can you be so happy all the time?’ is a question I often get asked. Well, it’s not that I’m happy ALL the time – but, I can say, ……..most of the time. I believe that being, and feeling, happy is a habit.

We all know people who make ‘being miserable’ a daily habit, right? That’s not the way I choose to live my life nor is it the way I choose to run my business.

Here are my 7 Habits which lead to me being a happy…

Celebrating Failure

Does the fear of failure ever hold you back? Have YOU ever talked YOU out of doing something YOU wanted to do – because you feared failure? You’re not alone. This is almost a phenomenon among women entrepreneurs.

Last weekend, I took time to sit and read the October issue of Success magazine. After listening to the free CD during a road trip, I felt compelled to sit and read the many articles in that particular issue on the topic of Failure and…

It’s All About Mindset!

So many entrepreneurs are confused about what they need to succeed. It’s a website. No, it’s a new package. No, it’s a book.

Actually, to succeed in business and in life, you need critical thinking skills – a powerful mindset!

The way we think can either make us or break us.   I see it all the time. I hear it all the time. At a recent business event, the results of survey showed that the major of the audience were challenged by…

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone!

“I’m scared to death!”  Have you ever felt that way as you grow your business? I know that many of you look at the ‘successful’ entrepreneurs and tell yourselves that it’s easy for ‘them’.

Are you kidding me?  I do hear that a lot when people learn that I’ve taken my business from sub-zero to multiple 6 figures in less than 4 years – but easy? NO! It’s downright scary most of the time. I have come to like feeling scared because it means I am having a…

Fear vs Panic!

I trust that all of you have had the opportunity to read the phenomenal book “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway!” by Susan Jeffers.  If not, then you need to get your hands on a copy today. It will become a live-saving reference as you grow your business.

All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives.  What is interesting to me is the way we often confuse fear with the feelings of panic. They are very different.

Recently, I saw the movie…

Lessons From Powerful Women!

How many of you are out there, on your own, re-inventing the wheel?  When is the last time you read a good book – and learned from some of the ‘masters’?

I am reading all the time. I heard an interview with Bill Gates this morning, actually, and he said that he reads each night for a full 2 hours. That’s impressive. That’s what the ‘masters’ do!

There was an article recently in Forbes magazine – “Top 10 Career Lessons from Powerful…

Lessons from Susan Boyle

Along with everyone else on the planet, I’ve been captivated by the saga of Susan Boyle. She epitomizes the story of the ugly duckling who sings like the beautiful swan. While the tale, at the time of this writing, seems to have ended on a bittersweet note, there are lessons we can learn that apply to achieving a successful retirement.

As the story has unfolded, it was revealed that Susan has spent her life being painfully shy. On her mother’s deathbed, she evidently promised to try… Continue
