New Cook Book Seeks Recipes and Teaches Communication With Older Adults Around Food

I am creating an on line cook book and social site for our client Golden Cuisine where family members learn to do a "culinary life review" with their parents  around a recipe they love and the story behind it.

Golden Cuisine a food company that caters to senior frozen meals was named a Fortune 500 and wants to give back. The book will feature celebrity recipes from their parents as well as yours. Eventually a hard covered cook book will be creates and…

Is Marriage A Contract of A Covenant?

For the children and grandchildren of Baby Boomers, is marriage a contractual arrangement like a business deal or a sacred promise to each other and, by extension, to God? The expectations and experiences of our generation affected our attitudes towards marriage. I'm sure that you've encountered members of the younger generation who consider the institution of marriage to be hypocritical. Recently, I attended the wedding of a couple of 20-somethings and the priest spoke to…

A Surefire Way To Succeed – Get Past Your Fears!

Why in the world do so many brilliant, capable, educated women allow fear to hold them back? I totally understand the whole concept of fear – what I don’t understand is why we let it get in the way of living our dream life.

I speak to a lot of women solopreneurs over the course of each and every week. And I have learned that there are many areas in which we allow fear to dominate – fear of success, fear of money, fear of travel, fear of public speaking, fear of networking, fear of…

Stop and Smell the Roses

What are you doing that is important is a question I asked the other day. I was interested in the responses and my thanks to those who responded. Sometimes doing what is important means not only doing for others, but doing something for yourself. I believe that if we are to help others, we need to find time to reinvigorate our own soul. I want to share something that helped me today. …

Everyday kindness

Everyday kindnesses are those little thoughtful acts that we all know we should do, but sometimes we just can’t be bothered. Maybe it seems like too much trouble to help your neighbor carry in her groceries or to stop along the freeway to help someone change a tire. The opportunity to help this person will never come again, and you are there for a reason, so go beyond your comfort zone, at least once each day and do something for someone else, just for the heck of it, with no expectations,…

Issues that unmarried couples face

They say statistics don’t lie.  According to the Census Bureau, the number of opposite-sex unmarried couples living together increased by 13% in 2010.  It also estimates that the number of same-sex couples living together rose roughly 30% in 2010.  And apparently the total of single people living together is expected to continue growing.  This may be due to younger couples delaying marriage, older couples choosing not to remarry, and most states’ current prohibition of gay…

Reflections and Blessings of 2010

As I reflect on this past year, it's as if the dome on my universe opened up and provided me with more abundance that I could ever imagine. Twelve months ago, I didn't even know that internet radio existed, and as I stepped into the world of BlogTalkRadio which led me to Boomer Authority Radio Network, my world has opened up in such a beautiful way. My new friends and associates within BARN are amazing people who guide and support me as I learn valuable tools…

So my question is: what are you doing that is of importance?

As we move closer to Xmas, I have been thinking about life -- a pretty common activity for many of us as we approach our mid 60's I think. As I have done that and read my lists and books over time two good themes developed. The first is "I'm blessed -- and you are, too."

The second is that people aren't simply individuals-- they make choices to belong to each other in communities -- these can be family, faith communities, work, friends, and many…

You Must Eliminate Toxic People From Your Life!

It is heart-breaking to me when I see so many entrepreneurs with all the elements for success – yet, they allow some people around them to hold them back.

"It's a lot easier to move forward, and succeed, when you don't have someone hanging on to your shirt-tail!" – Lou Tice

Think about what your business would be like if, in fact, you were only surrounded by positive, caring, loving, supportive people! It takes a lot of energy and stamina to run your own…

Elizabeth Edwards: Lessons About Resilience

Elizabeth Edwards, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, died 12/7/10 at the age of 61. She ended an extraordinary struggle, having lived with the death of her teenage son, high political ambition, marital betrayal and advancing disease. She often said that she didn't want to be defined by cancer or her husband's affair.

When her book Resilience was published, the media spotlight was on her husband's infidelity and how she was handling the aftermath. But it was the other adversity… Continue

Are You An Unemployed Or Under-Employed Boomer Male?

I'm organizing a weekly support group in Saratoga Springs, NY specifically for Baby Boomer men who are either out of work, working part-time or who have been forced by the current economic climate to accept a position which doesn't reflect their experience or success in their former job. The group's goal is to provide an opportunity for guys in these situations to have a safe haven in order to talk about their frustrations and concerns with others who can relate in a non-judgmental way, to… Continue

One Of The Realities of Retirement

There is much discussion on TV talk shows and written material in the press and on the internet about retirees outliving their money. That with life expectancy increasing, the ills of the financial markets of late and the American savings rates creeping down, the retiree and pre-retiree cohort is in “trouble”. Certainly there is some truth to the talk and statistics being quoted…

We bask in the light

We bask in the light.

Over time, light has become synonymous with joy. It caresses our optimism, understanding and revelation. Darkness has become the portent of despair, ignorance, death. A pall is cast over our dreams by naysayers. They tell us the reasons we won’t succeed. The Sixties’ “Dawning of the Age of Aquarius” was a vibrant renaissance for positive change. Its light bathed hopes.

Darkness can only shadow your dreams if you doubt.

You…

The Menopause Muffin Top

Expert’s Name: Dr. Sarah LoBisco, ND

Menopause and Weight Gain

Recently, webmd featured an article on the effects of hormonal changes on your belly. When the body’s output of estrogen and progesterone is altered by less ovarian output, the adrenal glands take lead to make up for the effects. The problem is that most women already have overstressed adrenals to begin with, adding an extra task may literally serve as the straw that broke the camel’s back!

As stress… Continue

A Retirement Job May Be the Answer in This Economy

I read an article about how to handle being fired and it rightly pointed out to maintain a positive attitude. Being mad and resentful does not improve your situation. Move on and look ahead is your best

bet.

In my career I was fired a few times. Well in the recession of the early 1970s it was that I was laid off, kind of like what is happening today. Then in 1987 I was laid off as an real estate asset manager

because…
