National Falls Prevention Awareness Day 2010

Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries to older adults. In 2007, National Falls Prevention Awareness Day (NFPAD) was established to promote and increase public awareness about how to prevent and reduce falls in this population. NFPAD is held on the first day of autumn each year, kicking off events nationwide to help seniors learn how to lower the risk of falling and continue to live independently.

To mark the observance, this year on September…

In the Zone...

Like many writers, my passion for writing can sometimes get highjacked by all the business details related to writing, but I quickly reclaim it. After all, that passion...that fire in the belly...is at the very heart of what we do.

No Time Like the Present

As I wrapped up my BlogTalkRadio Show with internationally acclaimed author and spiritual teacher, Donna Henes this morning, I took some time to absorb her words, which were words that I had read within her book "The Queen of My Self", as well as within her biographical information who is affectionately called "Mama Donna". Her words of wisdom and insights resonate strongly with me as this is "my time" in life. Having raised 3 children, and I must say, I did it well, and wouldn't change the… Continue

America's National Parks: 6 Tips for Family Vacations

Given your current limited budget, have you made any plans for a family vacation? Any time of year, a low cost getaway can create memories to cherish. But for some Sandwiched Boomers, squeezed between caring for growing children and aging parents, the choices may be slim.

According to a recent poll, close to 80% of adults believe that family and friends are more important than possessions - in other words, relationships trump 'bling' in creating happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment… Continue

Happy Grandparents Day

Did you know there are more than 70 million grandparents in the United States? I am one of them. According to the AARP, 4.5 million children are being raised in households headed by grandparents. I am also one of them.

In 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the official proclamation declaring the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day. That's the same year I graduated from Ohio University. Never thought much about the holiday…

9/11 St Pauls Church over the road from Ground Zero.

I visited the Garden of Rememberance in Newtown where my sister lives as well as Ground Zero in 2007.

I was touched by both places in such a deep way.

Today I remember this event with your Nation and pray for the families whose lives were changed instantly that day.

Where were you that day and what changed about your worldview as a reult of that event?

Here in South Africa we too have lived through history and change.

" Be the change you want to see… Continue

Your business leads are either hay or needles

Some of my friends were talking about prospecting, and the different avenues for

finding people to talk to, and how the percentages are likely the same

no matter what method you choose to use to find those people to

talk to. And one said,

“It's like looking for the proverbial 'needle in the haystack'. You just

keep picking up the pieces of hay and asking 'are you a needle or

a piece of hay?'”

Then it dawned on her, and on me as…
