Are Your Medicines Making You Sick?

It's amazing how often I hear about someone taking a prescription drug  for one symptom or another. It is not uncommon for that same person to not only be on one prescription but two or three. In fact, it is very common for senior citizens to be taking six, seven or more more prescriptions for various symptoms they suffer with.Unfortunately, what they don't realize is that it is usually those same prescriptions that cause other symptoms for which they are prescribed more prescription pills. A Great Place to Retire or Invest!

This last weekend we visited a new Resort Development in Southern New Mexico. We were treated to a night at a very charming historic lodge which included a mineral bath that evening and one in the morning after a delicious, healthy continental breakfast. The next morning we toured the resort. Beautiful master-planned community, gorgeous private18 hole golf course, several bass stocked small lakes for catch and release, hike/walk/bike trail, beautiful Tuscan style homes ranging in size from a… Continue

Get a Second, Third or Even Fourth Opinion

One of my favorite channels is Discovery Health. I like to watch the show Mystery Diagnosis because you 'll learn what to look out for. For example, last night a lady in her early thirties started having hip pain. She went to her family doctor and he told her that she was just getting "older".

I laughed out loud when I heard that because it's amazing what some doctors come up with. C'mon she is 32 years old. He didn't even order some basic X-Rays. Makes you wonder…

Common Questions About Inversion, Inverting, Hanging Upside Down, Spinal Traction, Spinal Decompression

What is Inversion Therapy?

Inversion Therapy is simply hanging upside down to get rid of pain in your spine. There are also many other benefits. Inversion therapy is an ancient technique. It is a fun and simple yet extremely effective way to stretch and decompress the human body, specifically the spine and discs. Gravity causes compression to the body when you are sitting or standing.

It also causes fatigue, spinal distortion and eventually pain and suffering. The… Continue

Bipolar Disorder (Continued.)

I am also an Advisory Board Member for the Hearts of Fire Project -- Founder & Director: Bob Ballard. The Hearts of Fire project is involved with homeless issues.

In this capacity, i have already been informed by Mr. Ballard that approximately 30% of those who are homeless have Bipolar Disorder. And these figures are, of course, confined to those who have been examined and/or treated. There may be many others. When you have those who are homeless suffering with BPD, the urge to use alcohol and other substances increases.

I have often said, "We do not have an alcohol or drug problem, we have a pain problem" and homelessness only increases the pain. And, it has become quite obvious that government does not have any answers -- it may, in fact, be the largest contributor to the problems.

So this leaves us to form grassroots movements to address the most pressing challenges of today. Mental illness, and mental illness associated with substance abuse appears to be one of the most challenging in today's world. We must somehow unite together and address this for we cannot survive with billions of people living in insanity.

We must provide for easily accessible healing modalities and management programs. There is no other alternative.

Thanks everyone for "listening" through reading.

Re: Bipolar Disorder (con't.)

It is obvious that the system is badly broken and beyond repair. Recommendation is for a new system to be instituted. One that is based on rehabilitation and not on punishment for those who are mentally ill. Treatment offered must be in terms of "medical need" just as it is for cancer or any other ailment.

I want to note here that treatment provided by the "Set Free Ministries" to which Mr. Newton was sent for rehabilitation, was provided by a religious group called "Calvary Church." An organization that has no medical affiliation and is not in any way qualified to evaluate or treat anyone who may have a mental/medical disorder.

Dr. V. Vernon Woolf, Ph.d. has advised me that "alcohol and substance abuse are not "stand alone" disorders -- they always have an underlying component to them." Therefore a potential patient must be thoroughly tested and diagnosed before treatment can be provided to ensure that the person in question is receiving the best treatment possible for any given evaluation of their condition just as would be done with a cancer victim.

So, what we are seeing here is a complete waste of money as people who suffer from mental disorders are treated by programs inadequate to address their needs and provide for healing, or to instruct them in disorder management programs which may help them lead normal lives. This handling of patients may allow them to return to society in the same condition and for the same behavior for which they were initially incarcerated, while thousands of dollars are spent on instilling modalities that are essentially worthless in enabling the individual in leading a normal life.

Since bipolar disorder is the most expensive illness there is to treat and BPD is on the increase and projected to be the leading cause of death in the near future, this is a crisis, not in the making, but one that has arrived and one that must be addressed NOW.

Last message continued:

"illegal arms" possession, and other violations that hardly constitute this facility as a "rehab center." I am outraged as a tax payer that a facility like this has been used for this purpose for this many years. Mr. Newton left the facility after being held there for two months due to the facility being in violation of health and safety codes.

This situation also plays into a report issued by CASA at Columbia University entitled: Shovel UPII: Substance Abuse and Its Effect on Local, State, and Federal Budgets. May 2009. I am linking substance abuse with BPD as it is customary for many of those suffering from BPD to "self-medicate" using alcohol and other substances due to the damage done to the kidneys and liver of someone having used Lithium, the preferred treatment for BPD, for ten years or more.

Many of those who are diagnosed as suffering from BPD are "hyper-active" which may translate into "hyper-sexuality" and become a driving force in the life of someone who has BPD. Another factor in BPD is that at the end of the "manic" phase, it is now known that the Pre-frontal lobes" frequently disconnect from the brain for six to eight weeks, and since it is the pro-frontal lobes which manage the brain, someone who is suffering with BPD is literally without a guidance system at that time, and may has little control over their behavior during that time. And, this is why we see those with BPD acting irrationally at times and going off on buying sprees, taking trips across the U.S. on credit cards, having irresponsible sexual encounters, giving away valued possessions, or doing other things that are not a normal part of their behavior when the prefrontal lobes are back in action again.

But what the Shovel UPII report reveals is only $0.04 of every dollar is used in terms of substance abuse in local. state, and federal budgets is spent in terms of "prevention," while $0.96 cents of every dollar is used to shovel up the mess.

Msg. re: Bipolar Disorder. Notice that i did not include URL for Dr. Woolf who is a licensed therapist - Family and Marriage Counselor, but also much more. Please review his website at www.holodynamics.com to learn about one of the most amazing men you will ever meet. His specialty is in transforming the collective consciousness. And with an introduction provided by Barbara Marx Hubbard to the Institute of Natural Science in the former U.S.S. R., Dr Woolf was to lead that country from communism to "perestroika" in a ten-year period, ending the Cold War in 1997. This is the first time in history that a country of this size has been transformed peacefully. But that is only one of his many accomplishments. And i am so honored to have been able to study under him for close to 15 years -- and his door is open any time i should need assistance with anything.

At this point I am interested in PBD and other mental illnesses as associated with correctional institutions and law enforcement agencies, and the manner in which they refer parolees to rehabilitation centers without any screening whatsoever to determine what type of treatment is needed so that they may be returned to society with little chance of recidivism. And, I am looking to put a group together to form the Anthony Donald Newton Foundation for Research and Education on BPD and other Mental Disorders. Anthony being a new friend of mine whom i discovered had been dropped through the cracks of the system for 20 years due to neglect of the system to discover and treat him for BPD. Recently, classified as just another substance abuse parolee, he was placed in a run down facility in one of the worst areas of San Diego County, where the Administrator for the facility is a former convicted child abuser and motorcycle gang member. This facility, operating under the name "Set Free Ministries" in several different locations, has been investigated for "attempted murder," "drug - running," (con't)

Hi Carlos, Sorry not to have commented back sooner, am in overwhelm as usual. I cannot seem to do things in a small way. Anyway, re: bipolar disorder am not licensed, but have studied with Dr. V. Vernon Woolf for close to 20 years and list myself as an "investigative reporter" although my experience goes far far beyond that and some very well known scientists thank me for information i share that they frequently do not have. Please check out and explore Dr. Woolf's website thoroughly. www.holodynamics.com. As well i have a very well known cell biologist who looks over my shoulder and check my work regularly.

Have read your post and agree with you on everything. Just finished reviewing six books on BPD and one on ADD. The book on ADD written by Dr. G. Amen, M.D. reveals his findings that ADD is frequently caused by a blow to the head at some point, And which is revealed later in life by a SPECT scan. In addition to this type of ADD, Dr. Amen lists 5 other types of ADD each with its own distinction brain dysfunction requiring a different type of treatment.

In researching BPD i have found this to be true as well. Therefore, i am going to be writing a white paper in hopes of getting everyone concerned on the same page and recognizing as you indicate that nutritional deficiencies may in many cases be the culprit in mental disorders.

A very interesting website in this regard is www.truehope.com -- this NGO distributes nutritional supplements for those suffering from BPD and the scientific research they have done verifies their success. What appears from this is that just taking some supplements together may not produce the healing as can TrueHope's EMPowerPlus product -- the reason being that some nutrients required for others to be assimilated properly may be missing. However, all of them are supplied in the EMPowerPlus Mixture. As well, TrueHope supplies consultants at the time of order to ensure that the patient is getting what they need. More later.

I will certainly keeps my ears wide open. I have a natural tendency to look at anything and see if I could make it better so this is right up my alley.

As far as becoming your medical expert in May, first.. I am a Chiropractor who is studying functional medicine and second... what would it entail? I would not want to let you or your listeners down if I have too much on my plate already.

Let's explore that possibility!
