Comment by Ian Kath on September 28, 2011 at 12:05am It's more a chat show.
I've been producing Your Story, not what I would call a talk show which suggests me talking to the audience but more a chat show where I talk to the interesting people I meet in my community and when I travel.
I've meet many interesting people but the ones I find most interesting are those who have some tension or contradiction to their story. Like the 20 year old prostitute or the 80 year old skydiver.
Recording Life Stories
Lately I've been distracted from Your Story producing much more content to help people record Life Stories on another podcast at Create Your Life Story. This is typically me instructing but I've had several guests talk about what they're doing in recording others from their world.
The interview skill is an interesting topic and one I have many opinions on. The primary, contradictory one is, it's not and interview so I refrain from using the "I" word and call it a "Directed Conversation".
I also like to have only a general overview of the topic when I'm talking to someone as I feel that with a genuine lack of (detailed) knowledge but a hunger to find out, it's possible to engage in exploring the topic with an attitude of wonder and surprise, which comes through the conversation to the listener. I'm fortunate in have good general knowledge and a thirst for more detail knowledge from others which enables me to connect and draw people out.
With the advent of Podcasting in recent years it's now possible for anyone, with a bit of detimination to become a "Radio" producer and announcer. It may not be radio but all the radio stations are repeating their content as podcasts so there must be something to it.

Thanks for recommending the Radio Results Training. It's great that everyone is so supportive with information.
Comment by Joyce Hansen on December 19, 2010 at 9:31am Thanks for your response Adriane. Do you know when the next Radio Results Training will be offered?
Beautifully stated by Graceful Aging and your approach has called me to further consideration of my audience. Thank you for sharing your great insight!
As a followup to Adriane's reply to Joyce, I highly recommend participating in Boomer Authority's Radio Results Training Course. I have been hosting my BTR show since May and my learning curve was much slower as I taught myself and learned along the way. If I had the opportunity to do it again, and as is the case with Joyce who is starting out now, the Radio Results Training information provided is priceless! Highly recommended and wish you all the best with your new show! All the best, Nancy
Comment by Joyce Hansen on December 14, 2010 at 9:06am I'm planning to start a radio talk show. Maybe some of you can help me.
Here's my questions. When you are making a decision as to what is the best radio outlet to choose, what are the criteria points you consider?
Comment by Mike Bonacorsi, CFP® on December 14, 2010 at 7:30am Hi Adriane
I will comment, I have been doing a show (winging it) for almost 2 years. My only training has been watching reruns of "Frasier" on TV. Your sessions have been a big plus, it has given me a n understanding of what a show should be and how to make it work for me.
Comment by Adriane Berg on December 13, 2010 at 5:29pm Attention: Shirley, Lori and all other hosts
post your show on Boomer Authority Radio Network
IF YOU ARE OR WANT TO BE A RADIO TALK SHOW HOST, BOOMER AUTHORITY RADIO NETWORK IS READY FOR THE NEW YEAR
WWW.BARNRADIONETWORK.COM is your portal to create a show or link to an existing show. Radio Results tm is a ten session training that guides you to monitize your show along side your business building. I have earned over $600,000 a year for at least 6 years while on the radio, and my stations earned just under a million in revenue on terrestrial radio. Can we duplicate this on internet radio? I think we can. What we need is a cohesive group of dedicated "talkers." It starts with your partcipation on BARN. Visit The website, sign on and then read about the training.
Nancy and all our participants-help me out-how has the training been so far for you?
